I originally saw a crew wanted post in one of the couchsurfing international groups on http://www.couchsurfing.org back in October 2010. Even though I was in Mexico at the time, I decided to book a flight down to join from the end of November 2010 in Golfito, Costa Rica. We sailed north to La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico via the remote Isla Clarion. For my blog write up from this adventure please see links below:

I enjoyed the simplicity and lifestyle so much that I decided to join again for a longer period of time. So from October 2012 to October 2013 Ketch Karaka was my home once again. I acquired 3 proper sea kayaks in La Paz and we sailed from Mexico down to Costa Rica via the remote Isla de Coco. I then left for a few months to work guiding sea kayak trips in Santa Catalina, Panama (Feb-Apr) to make some money for the long trip to the south pacific. In May we we off on a long offshore passage to the remote islands of French Polynesia. In mid October 2013 my 3 month visa was up and I flew onwards to New Zealand.
