Sea Kayaking Detroit River from Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie

June 24th-25th, 2011 I paddled the detroit river with my good friend Natalie and her dad Todd Lucier from Northern Edge Algonquin. It was a great trip celebrating Natalie’s graduation from film school as paddled through her home town of Windsor, Ontario. We kayaked about 72km along the Canadian shoreline of the Detroit River exploring Peche Island at the mouth of the River in Lake St. Clair, paddling under the Ambassador bridge connecting Windsor and Detroit and camping out at local paddler Don’s place near River Canard past Fighting Island. The next morning we continued out to explore the Boblo Island abandoned amusement park and out to Lake Erie to the Lucier’s family cottage just past Colchester, Ontario. Sailing Adventure Through the Great Lakes and out the St. Lawrence River

So i had a little time on my hands with no place to live lined up and no real plans… I saw a post in the ride share group on http://www.couchsurfing.org from someone looking for crew to help sail his 36ft ketch sailboat from Buffalo New York to Nova Scotia (or as far as we could make it). I thought it was a great opportunity so i hoped on board. Here are some pictures… (click this preview to be able to view all 210 pictures)
